Annual Meeting
The member-only ASGCA Annual Meeting has been held since
1947 and is cited by many ASGCA members as one of the most
important benefits of membership. The meeting site is selected
with one important criterion first: the proximity of great
golf. From Shinnecock Hills to Pebble Beach, ASGCA members
play the best new and classic courses that North America and
— every fifth year, Scotland and Ireland — have
to offer.
Between golf, ASGCA members attend business meetings and
educational sessions. They also gather for the annual presentation
of the Donald Ross Award, ASGCA’s highest honor, given
annually to an individual who has made significant and lasting
contributions to the profession of golf course architecture.
First awarded in 1976 to golf architecture pioneer Robert
Trent Jones, the honor continues to this day as one of the
most prestigious in golf.
The camaraderie and fellowship among members is special;
few professions have a gathering of direct competitors where
those in attendance set aside business differences so completely
and enjoy each other’s company so thoroughly.
