Jack Snyder, ASGCA Designer Notes:
Not only is it relatively long, but this finisher is complete with creek crossings and a small pond fronting an undulating green. Tee shots hit too far will be on a downslope. Therefore, a choice off the tee is whether to play long, or hit shorter to set up a more level lie. A more level lie will be farther from the hole, while a long shot will be closer. The longer tee ball will very likely come to rest on a down slope, and a ball hit too strong will have potential to reach the creek, especially if hit slightly left. On the other hand, while the best position seems to be right of center, this position requires a full carry over water to the green. As you can see, the choices are many from the tee and they set up the next scene. Once in the fairway players must decide whether to go for the green in regulation, or play to the bail-out areas to the left or short of the devilish pond flanking the putting surface. An exciting finish, full of detour options and any amount of risk the golfer chooses to spend. |
