The American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) welcomed six new Associate Members to its ranks at the group’s recent 64th Annual Meeting in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The election of Kevin Atkinson, Todd Clark, Billy Fuller, Todd Quitno, Kevin Ramsey and Andy Staples brings the number of members to 187:
Kevin Atkinson: Atkinson is Senior Architect with Phelps/Atkinson Golf Course Design of Evergreen, Colo. He holds a B.S. in Architectural Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and lists the following representative courses: The Golf Club at Devil’s Tower, Hulett, Wyo. (nine new holes, nine holes remodeled); Osgood Golf Course, Fargo, N.D., and Oak Hills Country Club, Omaha, Neb. (remodel).
Todd Clark: Clark earned a B.L.A. from Kansas State University and is President of CE Golf Design in Kansas City, Kan. He lists the following representative courses: Winterstone Golf Course, Independence, Mo.; Lawrence Country Club, Lawrence, Kansas (remodel) and Wolf Creek Golf Links, Olathe, Kan. (remodel).
Billy Fuller: Fuller is Owner/President of Billy Fuller Golf Design, Atlanta, Ga. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University and lists the following representative courses: Legacy on Lanier Golf Club, Lake Lanier Islands, Ga. (remodel); Ballantrae Golf Club, Pelham, Ala. and Reunion Country Club, Jackson, Miss.
Todd Quitno: Quitno is a Senior Project Architect for Lohmann Golf Designs, Inc., Marengo, Ill. He holds a B.L.A. from Ball State University and lists the following representative courses: Blackstone Golf Course, Marengo, Ill.; Eagle Creek Golf Course, Hortonville, Wis. and Jefferson City Country Club, Jefferson City, Mo. (remodel).
Kevin Ramsey: Ramsey is Vice President/Principal of Golfplan – Fream, Dale & Ramsey, based in Santa Rosa, Calif. He holds a B.S. in Landscape Architecture and a B.A. in Economics from University of California at Davis. He lists the following representative courses: Cengkareng Golf Club, Jakarta, Indonesia; Qiandaohu Country Club, Hangzhou, China, and Qiandaohu Country Club, Hangzhou, China.
Andy Staples: Staples is Owner/President of Golf Resource Group, based in Phoenix, Ariz. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and holds a B.L.A. He has designed The Golf Club at Sand Hollow Resort, Hurricane, Utah; Cedar Hills Golf Club, Cedar Hills, Utah and The Lakes Country Club, Palm Desert, Calif.
Candidates for Associate Membership in ASGCA complete a rigorous, multi-phase application process that includes peer review of four completed courses, discussions with project owners and a personal interview to assess the candidate’s professional capabilities. This process typically takes two years for an applicant to complete.
