Ed Beidel was introduced to golf through various caddying positions he held as a youth. After graduating from Penn State in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, Ed progressed from caddying and found a new way to help golfers: providing full design and construction period services in golf architecture, as well as in landscape architecture and site/land planning. Ed spent almost 16 years at Hassenplug Associates as a Primary Golf Architect and Landscape Architect responsible for all design development and project management within the firm. He then served for three years as Vice President and as Director of the Golf Services Division for Daft McCune Walker, a leading land development consulting firm. Currently, Ed is owner and president of Beidel Design Associates, a team of golf architects, landscape architects, and land planners. Ed is a strong proponent of "affordable/practical golf" and of "growing the game." He brings a creative yet practical design style to his projects, while maintaining the game's traditional values. Ed is personally involved in all phases of his projects, and he has been the lead or solo designer on more than 200 golf/planning projects, both nationally and internationally. In addition to his role with the ASGCA, he is a full member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and an affiliate member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
