An avid golfer since the age of eleven, Mark Hollinger got his start in the design world with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Georgia. He then practiced landscape architecture, resort development, and planning for 13 years on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. At Hilton Head, Mark developed an interest in golf architecture, and he went to work with Williard Byrd & Associates in 1986 before joining JMP Golf Design Group in 1990. Today Mark is a partner and principal at JMP, a firm that serves both American and international clients. JMP Golf Design Group focuses on environmental responsibility and designs that respond to site conditions and existing landforms. The firm is known for creating extraordinarily beautiful courses while remaining founded on traditional values. Mark's most noteworthy designs include China's Agile Golf Club, Long Island Golf & Country Club, and Jian Lake Golf & Country Club; Wildhawk Golf Club in Sacramento, Califorina; Iwate Numakunai Golf Club in Japan; and Las Lomas Golf & Habitat in Guadalajara, Mexico. When not home with his wife and two daughters in northern California, Mark frequently speaks around the world at various golf conferences and seminars.
