Paul Jansen, is a golf course architect and the founder and CEO of Himalayas Golf. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in Durban, South Africa, Paul studied Town and Regional Planning at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg before beginning his golf course design career in the United States with Ault, Clark & Associates.

Paul later joined Faldo Design, where he spent several years working internationally and played a leading role in the design and construction of projects across Asia and Europe. He subsequently established Jansen Golf Design, which became part of Himalayas Golf in 2024. Having worked in more than a two dozen countries, Paul’s experience encompasses new championship courses, renovations, par-3 courses, short courses and compact golf facilities. Paul’s design philosophy is rooted in creating golf that responds naturally to its landscape, provides strategic interest for accomplished players and remains enjoyable and approachable for everyone. His background in large-scale golf course architecture has also shaped his growing focus on “Golf in Small Spaces” finding imaginative ways to deliver meaningful golf experiences on smaller parcels of land.

Through Himalayas Golf, Paul has become particularly focused on the future of short-form golf, including putting courses, par-3 courses, short-game areas and adaptable practice facilities. His work combines architecture, construction and purposeful play to help clubs, resorts, communities and private clients make better use of available land while introducing golf to a broader audience.
