Steve Timm began his professional golf career in 1972, spending the next 14
years establishing himself as a leading Golf Club Professional and instructor
at three prestigious venues: The Desert Inn Hotel and Country Club (Las
Vegas, NV), The Las Vegas Country Club (Las Vegas, NV), and Riviera
Country Club (Pacific Palisades, CA). During this period, he gained
extensive expertise in all aspects of golf operations and instruction.

In 1986, Steve transitioned to golf course development, joining Cosmo World
Corporation, a multinational golf course development firm, as Vice President
of Golf Course Development. His responsibilities included land acquisition,
environmental approvals, and the hiring of architects, engineers, and key
consultants. In 1987, he engaged Bob Cupp and Tom Kite to design The Los
Angeles International Golf Club (Los Angeles, CA). Over the following five
years, Steve trained under Bob Cupp, mastering key elements of golf course
design, including routing, strategy, drainage, and contour planning. By 1993,
Bob Cupp invited Steve to join Cupp Design as a Design Associate for the
West Coast.

Steve went on to design and co-design several golf courses, including The
Cascades Golf Club (Los Angeles, CA) and Tierra Rejada Golf Club
(Moorpark, CA), as well as renovations to Santa Barbara Golf Club (Santa
Barbara, CA) and Spanish Hills Country Club ( Camarillo, CA). Through
his own firm, Timm Golf Services, he completed additional projects such as
the re-masterplaning and building of Rancho Cascades Golf Club, redesign
of Sinaloa Golf Course for the Simi Valley Parks and Recreation
Department, and updates to Balboa Golf Course for the City of Los Angeles.

His career has also has taken him internationally, including work in China
alongside Bob Cupp and in more recent years Steve renovated San Juan
Hills Golf Club (San Juan Capistrano, CA) and , partnered with Dale Beddo
to design Whiskey Springs Golf Club in Kerrville, Texas.

Over the course of his career, Steve has collaborated with many of the game’s
most respected designers and professionals, including Bob Cupp, Pete Dye,
Perry Dye, John Harbottle, Billy Fuller, David Johnson and Dale Beddo (all
ASGCA members), as well as PGA Tour pros Tom Kite and Tommy Armour
III.
