Biography

Michael E. Gleason has 24 years of experience in golf course design and construction. He began his career working with Ellis and Dan Maples of Pinehurst, N.C. During the 16 years he worked with the Maples, Michael worked on more than 40 golf courses on the East Coast and abroad.

Since starting his own firm in the summer of 1999, Michael has strived to produce simple and elegant designs that provide a variety of alternative lines of play to the pin. By providing these alternatives, every caliper of player is given a choice. The player who chooses to take a risk will reap the benefits if they are successful.

Most of his recent work has concentrated on the remodeling of classic designs. Some of the courses that he has remodeled include the work of Ellis Maples and Donald Ross. His project at Lexington Golf Club, Lexington N.C., was voted by Crittenden's Golf Inc. Magazine as one of the top five renovations for 2004.

Michael has also worked on projects in Spain, Germany, Japan and Hawaii. Along with his work on golf courses, he also has experience in Preliminary Master Planning for large scale developments and has consulted with several clubs on permitting and environmental issues.
