In a recent article from The Wall Street Journal, writer John Paul Newport reports on the recent development with Ferry Point golf course in Bronx, New York, a Jack Nicklaus Signature course.
The last piece of necessary paperwork was recently signed, funneling city funds to the construction crews. Project manager John Sanford, ASGCA of Sanford Golf Design, along with Jack Nicklaus, ASGCA and his lead design associate, Jim Lipe, ASGCA have been hard at work on the course in preparation for its fall 2011 opening.
Sitting atop a former landfill, Ferry Point will be an Irish links-style course with splendid views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. Nicklaus says the course may be worthy of PGA Tour events and possibly major championships.
