The “Orlando Sentinel” reports more Central Florida golfers are opting for nine-hole rounds, leading to greater traffice at courses and happier players coming back for more.

In discussing the PGA’s “Time for Nine” campaign, “Golf Digest” writer Bob Carney told the newspaper, “It’s really economically important for courses to get people there, even if it’s only for a few holes.”

Courses are seeing positive improvements to the bottom line, as well.

“Nine-hole options also help golf operators fill a void in the evening, typically a slow time for courses. Celebration Golf Club’s women’s league, for example, has a 5:30 ‘shotgun’ start. ‘That late in the evening is always a good time for revenue-building,’ said Carol Daniels of Celebration.”
