Arthur Schaupeter has over 25 years of experience in golf course architecture. He has completed both new golf courses and renovations of existing golf courses, and has worked with a wide variety of client types including municipalities, developers, private clubs, daily fee facilities, and alternative golf facilities. Art has also worked with historic golf clubs, developing master plans for improvements, helping to update the golf course while maintaining its historic character. Art has a hands-on approach to each of his projects and offers his clients his personal involvement in all phases of the project's development. His scope of services includes preliminary concept design, development of construction documents, details and specifications, coordination of the bid process and on-site review of all aspects of the project's construction. Art's design philosophy begins with the client's objectives and the unique characteristics of the golf course site. Beyond that, he focuses on creating a fun, engaging, dynamic golfing experience that golfers will enjoy playing time and time again. His design influences include George Thomas Jr., Alister Mackenzie, William Flynn, and Max Behr. Art's original design work has received a variety of awards including: The Highlands of Elgin, 2nd in the State of Illinois (Best Courses You Can Play in 2014) by Golfweek magazine; 8th in the United States (Best Municipal Courses in 2014) by Golfweek magazine; The Club at Old Hawthorne, 1st for Best Golf Course (Best of Columbia readers' poll in 2012, 2013 and 2014) by Inside Columbia magazine; also site of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Regional Annual Host of the Missouri Pro-Am State Open; The Republic Golf Club, 1st in San Antonio (Overall Best Golf Course in San Antonio Poll in 2006, 2007, and 2009) by the San Antonio Express News; Highland Meadows Golf Course, 5th in the United States (Best New Affordable Daily Fee Golf Course in 2005) by Golf Digest
