William Teuful was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and stayed true to his Pacific Northwest roots for all of his life. He studied at Washington State University and the University of Oregon, where he earned a B.S. in Landscape Architecture.

Teuful started his own landscape and golf architecture firm, G. Teuful and Associates, Inc. in 1956. Based in Seattle, he designed several courses, mainly throughout the northwest region of the United States.

Teuful was elected into the ASGCA as an Associate member in 1984 and as Regular member in 1987. He would later be promoted to Fellow status in 1996 and serve with the organization for 24 years until his death in 2008.
