The Ledges Country Club in Huntsville, Alabama, has broken ground on their new state-of-the-art short game academy designed by Dana Fry, ASGCA and Jason Straka, ASGCA, (Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design). Club owners and members are investing in their future while fulfilling current members’ needs.
The 1.5 acre facility will feature a 5,500 square foot putting green, large chipping green surrounded by fairway approaches and rough with the ability to practice up to 30-yard shots, and practice sand bunkers and green. The academy will also feature a new private teaching tee on the range and eventually, a new all-weather academy building.
“We sincerely believe the additional of this short game practice area will promote golf within the club for our youth programs, members and guests,” says Jim Howell, the club’s Director of Golf Course Operations.
“We are honored to design the academy for The Ledges so the club may offer the finest golf experience possible well into the future,” Straka said.
The Ledges is the third ranked golf course in Alabama by Golf Digest®. It is an 18-hole championship course that sits atop the highest point in Huntsville, some 1,000 feet above the city and offers breathtaking views of the Tennessee Valley.
