Restoration, remodeling and renovation – the “3 R’s” of golf course architecture – is the topic of a “Tartan Talks” with Golf Course Industry, featuring ASGCA Past President Steve Forrest and Shawn Smith, ASGCA (Hills & Forrest, International Golf Course Architects).
Forrest and Smith share their thoughts on the differences among the three areas, and their similarities. They provide detail to Guy Cipriano on the role technology is playing in how golf course architects view their role today, and how that technology impacts the process of restoration on historic courses.
As one example, Smith noted, “Technology lets us take drone video/photography of an existing hole, manipulate it to show what the ‘after’ may look like after we do our work. It certainly helps detail the vision we have.”
