It may be the most-discussed new course design and construction happening in the world today. Gil Hanse, ASGCA, provided background and a project update on the 2016 Summer Olympic Games project to the Golf Channel.

Hanse discussed how he approached the initial Request for Proposal, how his team’s plans survived the first round of cuts, and then facing off against seven other top architects before securing the project.

But for Hanse, the final presentation to Olympic Organizing Committee officials was stroll in the park compared with what it took for him to even arriive in Brazil on time for the meeting (think “international travel identification”).

Hanse was interviewed as part of Architect Week on “Morning Drive,” a week-long feature that included appearances by fellow-ASGCA members Bill Coore, Bob Cupp, Rees Jones and Jack Nicklaus.
