Four Associate members successfully completed all requirements and were elected Regular members of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) at the group’s recent 64th Annual Meeting in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Attaining regular membership in ASGCA were Tripp Davis, Jon Garner, Jeff Lawrence, and Bryce Swanson:
- Tripp Davis: Principal/Lead Golf Course Architect with Tripp Davis and Associates Golf Course Architecture, based in Norman, Okla. Davis’ recent work includes Old American Golf Club, The Colony, Texas and Preston Trail Golf Club, Dallas, Texas.
- Jon Garner: Senior Designer, Nicklaus Design, based in the company’s Utah office. Garner’s recent work includes Idaho Club, Sandpoint, Idaho, and Red Ledges, Heber City, Utah.
- Jeff Lawrence: Senior Designer, Gary Player Design, Traveler’s Rest, S.C. Lawrence’s recent work includes BlackSeaRama, Balchik, Bulgaria and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
- Bryce Swanson: Senior Designer, Rees Jones, Inc., Montclair, N.J. Swanson’s recent work includes Blue Top Ridge at Riverside, Riverside, Iowa and Bellerive Country Club, St. Louis, Mo.
Associate members of ASGCA have each designed at least five 18-hole golf courses and have practiced golf course architecture for a minimum of eight years, though the average member has more than 20 years experience and dozens of golf courses to his or her credit. Regular membership in ASGCA is earned after a member has been an Associate member in good standing for at least three years and has designed or remodeled and seen through to opening two additional 18-hole golf courses.

Founded in 1946 by 14 leading architects, the American Society of Golf Course Architects is a non-profit organization comprised of experienced golf course designers located throughout the United States and Canada. Members have completed a rigorous two-year long application process that includes the peer review of four representative golf courses. ASGCA members are experienced golf course architects, able to counsel in all aspects of golf course design and remodeling.
