Rick Baril, ASGCA, senior partner of the firm von Hagge, Smelek & Baril, has been selected to oversee the construction of a second championship course for Europe’s top-rated golf course, Les Bordes.
Les Bordes Golf International, owner of the exclusive Les Bordes, confirmed it will begin building a second championship course on the Les Bordes estate. The new resort course is set to open in 2013 and will be a par 72 course, with the final length still to be established. According to Baril’s firm, the new course will be more forgiving than the original, hazard-rich course and will allow for more of a ground game. Visually, the intent for the new course will be more “rustic” than the old course.
Planning permission for the course has been granted, and construction, overseen by Baril, is expected to start in 2011.
