An article detailing the ongoing work by Chris Wilczynski, ASGCA, at Wanakah Country Club in Buffalo, N.Y., is featured in the October issue of “Golf Course Archtiect” magazine.

The course dates back to 1898, and the last major remodel was completed in 1925.

Wilczynski and his firm, CW Golf Architecture, completed the current project’s first phase in 2010 with changes to four holes. Phase two began this summer with changes to the 14th, 15th, 16th and 10th holes. The plan also calls for extensive tree removal.

“There were way too many trees, and bad varieties too,” said Wilczynski. “They were impeding playability and maintenance. We’re trying to get the corridors back, so people can enjoy the game more.”
