Brad Klein’s Donald Ross biography reissued in expanded edition

Golfweek architecture editor Brad Klein’s award-winning biography, Discovering Donald Ross: the Architect and His Golf Courses, has just been reissued in a hardcover, expanded edition. The original text won the 2001 USGA International Book Award for its exhaustive detailing of the life work of Ross (1872-1948), who was one of the ASGCA’s founding members.

The thoroughly illustrated volume features original design plans, maps and personal memorabilia of Ross, as well as hundreds of color photographs of his courses. It includes much comparative before./after imagery and detailed accounts of many of the the nearly 400 courses Ross designed or redesigned. The newly expanded edition includes updated charts and and a new chapter detailing design restoration work in the last decade, including the dramatic transformation of Pinehurst No. 2.
