Work has begun on a renovation and restoration at The Ford Plantation, Savannah, Ga., designed by Pete Dye, ASGCA Fellow. Tim Liddy, ASGCA, is working with Dye on the project.
“Golf Course Architecture” reports the project is expected to take one year to complete, improve the course’s drainage and include a state-of-the-art irrigation system. The article states, “The front nine will undergo landscape changes to widen corridors, while the back nine will add bunkers and natural waste areas.
“’The impetus for this project was to upgrade the infrastructure of the course,’ said Liddy. ‘However, we then realised this was also the perfect time for a complete restoration that would renew the greens, bunkers and fairway contouring to align with Mr. Dye’s vision for course. I am thrilled to work beside Mr. Dye to bring his unique touches back to The Ford Plantation golf course.’”
