Visitors to www.avidgolfer.com are treated this month to an article from Jeff Blume, ASGCA. Blume discussed the recent “Classic Golf in America” tour, featuring architects from ASGCA, Europe and Austrailia, who visited several of the top courses in the United States.

The studied included stops at Bethpage Black, National Golf Links, Maidstone Club and Baltusrol Golf Club.ASGCA members were joined by their brethren from the European Institute of Golf Course Architects and the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.

“There is a certain feel any golfer gets when he enters the grounds of America’s most revered and classic layouts,” Blume wrote. “Stepping on to the first tee and preparing to hit that initial tee shot brings a lump in one’s throat and goose bumps to the skin.”

The Study Tour in the United States followed a similar tour of architects conducted in Australia several years ago.
