In the August/September 2009 edition of Golf Business Development magazine, Kyle Phillips, ASGCA, discussed some of the mistakes developers may have made in the past but also encouraged the golf industry to analyze and redirect its priorities, aligning them back toward the origins of the game.

Phillips wrote about the problems faced today within the real estate development sector of the golf industry, addressing the history behind the ‘formula’ that incorporated home sites around every fairway on a course. He believes that links courses or older classic courses from the last century exemplify “the golf standard in golf,” and advocated for future golf courses to be designed with an emphasis on their architecture and with the feeling and passion for golf.
