“Chicago Area Golf” reports Greg Maritn, ASGCA, has begun work on a renovation of Oak Meadows Golf Club in Addison, Ill. The project will include a major positive environmental impact on the area. Completion is expected in 2016.

Martin’s fellow ASGCA members Forrest Richardson and Art Schaupeter are also part of the team working on the course which played host to the 1941 Chicago Open, won by Ben Hogan.

“Oak Meadows is a golf preserve,” Martin said. “I have long felt that golf can do more in terms of community-wide benefit than the public perceives. Golf provides open space, it provides positive water quality, it provides habitat. So when you have a course like Oak Meadows that stands in a forest preserve, it can do great things.”
