In a recent announcement from Golf Inc. magazine, several ASGCA members were noted as awards recipients in the Golf Inc. Renovation of the Year Competition.

According to the article, in the category of public courses over $1 million, the University of Maryland Golf Course won first place. Bill Love, AGSCA, was one of the lead architects behind the course’s renovation. The St. Regis Resort at Princeville Makai in Kauai, Hawaii took second place. The renovation at this course was led by architect Robert Trent Jones II, ASGCA. Third place went to Masonboro Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina, with Bob Moore, ASGCA, as the project’s architect.

In the category of private courses over $1 million, first place went to Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Tom Marzolf, ASGCA, completed the club’s renovation.

In the category of private courses under $1 million, Hudson National Golf Club in Hudson, New York won first place. Fazio Golf Course Designers and Tom Fazio, ASGCA, guided the renovation at the course.

Jack Crittenden, Editor in Chief of Golf Inc. magazine, said, “This was one of the finest pools of entrants since the competition started in 2004. All of the honorees were rated by the judges as an outstanding quality.”

Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA, was one of three judges for the competition.

The winning projects will be featured in the summer issue of Golf Inc., due out in June.
