A new edition of “By Design” magazine, an electronic magazine focusing on the development of better and more sustainable golf facilities, is now available for viewing.

The cover story of this issue focuses on the positive economic impact a golf course can have on its community. Writer Larry Hirsh discusses the direct, indirect, and induced impacts from golf courses on states’ economies, which includes output/sales, jobs, personal income, and taxes.

The issue also features articles regarding irrigation; the reduction of maintenance expenditures; how practice facilities and academy courses could help grow the game; and what it takes to produce championship conditions, and why most courses shouldn’t try to follow suit.
