The new year begins for Jack Nicklaus, ASGCA, with action expected to take place on his proposed new design for the Hunter Valley Wine Region of New South Wales, Australia.

The publication “Maitland Mercury” reports the 18-hole course would be part of an overall resort design scheduled to include 300 residences, 250 tourist villas, a 50-room hotel, retail, restaurants and a conference center. It would also house the Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy of South East Asia.

“If approved, the resort would join other international-standard courses in the Hunter including The Vintage, designed by Greg Norman, and Cypress Lakes, home of the Jack Newton Celebrity Classic.

“The NSW Department of Planning recommended rezoning the land, on Wine Country Drive, and plans were on public exhibition between November 20 and December 18.”
