ASGCA Past President and Fellow Michael Hurdzan (Hurdzan Golf Design) has designed a new short-game practice facility for NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. Construction is expected to start this Spring.

The “Dayton Business Journal” reports: “NCR Country Club in Kettering will invest several hundred thousands dollars into a new short-game practice facility.

“The club’s board approved the project, which will take place on six acres that had been a second practice/driving range.

“Hurdzan Golf Design in Columbus performed the design and layout work while the earthwork and shaping will be provided by Tom Topp, Owner of Toppshape Enterprises in Kettering.

“‘This practice facility, the only one of its kind in the Miami Valley, will provide our 575 golf members with an entirely new option as it relates to time commitments in playing and practicing golf, as well as introducing the game to beginners,’ said Steve Bolerjack, COO of NCR Country Club.

“NCR Country Club is one of several Dayton-area courses that is putting money into its facilities to stay ahead in the hyper-competitive golf industry.

“Golf is big business for the economy, with thousands of workers employed at peak season between more than 90 public and private courses. A thriving golf scene also necessary to attract and retain talent, especially at the executive level.

“‘Golfweek Magazine’ recently named NCR’s South Course 62nd out of the Top 100 Classically Designed Golf Courses in the United States.”
