“Our new favorite course in Virginia” is how “Golf Odyssey” describes Ballyhack Golf Club in Roanoke, designed by Lester George, ASGCA.
The golf travel publication awards Ballyhack its’ highest rating in the July newsletter issue, prasing everything from the vista to the area climate to the design.
“Designer Lester George made the most of this bold site. With minimal earth-moving, he situated holes right on some of the prominent ridges and hilltops to take advantage of tremendous vistas.
“Most of all, Ballyhack is full of variety and strategic options. There are short par fours, plunging tee shots, split fairways, speed slots, holes taht rise so as to finish on hilltop knobs, pronounced side slopes and a double green. The gaping fairways and elevation changes…give players a number of safe landing areas and different angles.”
