“Landscape Archtiecture Magazine” Editor Bradford McKee shines a light on the recent challenges architects are facing when he asks “What’s the Matter with Sustainability?” in the recent issue.
McKee writes there are a number of state legislatures drafting laws “in a frantic reaction to Agenda 21, the nonbinding United Nations document signed in 1992 by 178 countries, including the United States, to promote sustainability in planning and development at all levels of government.”
Alabama, Arizona, New Hampshire, Oklanhoma and other state lawmakers appear, according to McKee, to have unique views on what “smart” planning and care for the land entails.
