Now in its fourth year, Rain Bird’s annual Intelligent Use of Water Awards program has expanded by simultaneously going both global and grassroots. As an interactive grant program, The Intelligent Use of Water Awards will now present a total of more than $50,000 in funding to deserving water conservation and environmental sustainability projects around the world.
As a global initiative, the Intelligent Use of Water Awards welcomes anyone with Internet access to submit a project for consideration via the program’s website. Those individuals or organizations nominating projects are encouraged to promote those projects within their own communities and via social media.
Visitors to the Intelligent Use of Water Awards website may anonymously vote on their favorite projects, with each visitor allotted a maximum of one vote per day per project. The ten projects earning the most votes at the end of the voting period in March will receive funding at three different levels: $1,500 (four awards), $5,000 (three awards), and $10,000 (three awards). The awards will be presented on World Water Day, March 22, 2011.
Visit here over the next few months to submit a project, vote for your favorite project and see how people in your community and communities around the world are encouraging The Intelligent Use of Water.
