Rees Jones, ASGCA, will shortly start construction on a new course on the east coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. The story was reports in the latest issue of “Golf Course Architecture.”
Ther article goes on to report, “Developer Villa Group has commissioned Jones’ firm to build the course at its Islands of Loreto resort, around forty minutes south of the city of Loreto. The site is adjacent to the Sea of Cortez.
“Groundbreaking for the course is scheduled for June, with the first nine holes planned to be open for play in late 2014. The developer says the property’s natural slope means that every hole will offer sea views, as well as looking onto the Sierra de la Giganta mountain range to the west”
