Washington State Univeristy dedicated the 15th hole of its award-winning Palouse Ridge Golf Course in memory of the course’s archtiect, John Harbottle, III, ASGCA.

Washington State University today dedicated the 15th hole of its award-winning Palouse Ridge Golf Course in memory of the course’s architect, John Harbottle III, of Tacoma, who died last week while working in California.
Harbottle, 53, was praised internationally for the playability and environmental sensitivity of his golf course creations. In designing the Palouse Ridge Golf Club, he made every effort to create a course which was challenging, yet enjoyable for the average player. The fairways of the majestic 7,308-yard course blend harmoniously among the rolling Palouse Hills, offering dazzling 360-degree panoramas from countless vantage points.
At it’s opening in 2008, Palouse Ridge received wide national acclaim, including being named the #2 Best New Public Course in the country by both Golf Digest and Golfweek, and being named the #2 Best College Course in the country by Links Magazine.
Tyler Jones, general manager of Palouse Ridge, said the WSU course will long stand as a tribute to the exceptional architectural vision of Harbottle, “who often commented on how much he loved Palouse Ridge’s 15th hole.”
“John said it could be his favorite short par 4 in all of golf,” Jones said.
